About University
Moscow State University of Psychology and Education (MSUPE) was founded more than 10 years ago on the bases of Psychological Institution of the Russian Academy of Education – the oldest psychological scientifiс institution. Psychological education in MSUPE rose from Moscow School of Psychology, Culture and History. This School was founded by distinguished figures in psychology Vygotsky L.V., Luriya A.R., Leontiev A.N., Elkonin D.B., Davydov V.V. and etc. The key staff of University are disciples and followers of these scientists, developing traditions of cultural psychology.
The teacher staff of the University comprises the key psychologists in Russia, including 140 PhDs and 362 Masters, active and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Science and the Russian Academy of Education.
MSUPE and Psychological Institution of the Russian Academy of Education currently appear to be unique scientific and educational unit – “Psychology” headed by professor, honoured worker of science, active member of the Russian Academy of Education Vitaly Vladimirovich Rubtsov.
MSUPE is an extremely developing and innovative institution of higher education. Nowadays, the University trains psychologists not only for the educational system, but for different areas of social practice; implements psychological training of specialists in numerous fields of activities: Legal Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Psychology, and Psychology of Education. Graduates of University get job at psychological centres and services, medical and education institutions, scientific centres, law enforcement authorities, local government authorities, non-government companies.
Scientific and research base in MSUPE comprises 7 public scientific and education centres equipped with hi-tech hardware and software complex of scientific instruments including centres of neurophysiological, psychogenetic, ethnopsychological researches and genius and intelligent potential centre, etc.
International Relations
University actively cooperates with the foreign institutions of higher education. 36 agreements of cooperation have been signed. The main goal of cooperation is to develop mutual scientific projects.
Studying
Training of students is provided at 11 faculties:
Psychology of Education (trains psychologists for education institutions),
Psychological Counseling (trains specialists in counseling and psychotherapeutics for psychological centres and educational and medical institutions, consulting companies),
Social Psychology (trains psychologists for psychological and social services and organization development counsellors),
Clinical and Special Psychology (trains clinical psychologists for special institutions, clinics and centres of rehabilitation),
Social Psychology (trains children social and pedagogical psychologists),
Information Technologies (trains specialists in creation, maintenance and usage of applied program and information systems, processing and evaluating of experimental data),
Foreign Languages (trains teachers of foreign languages and cultures, interpreters/translators),
Legal Psychology (trains specialists in legal, age, medical psychology and counselors in children protection of rights),
State and Municipal Management (trains specialists in effective management of company in accordance with social and economic development),
Extreme Psychology (trains specialists-managers in emergency situations),
Distance Learning (trains Bachelors of general psychology).
The University provides Postgraduate studentship, on the basis of which the preparation on seven specialties is carried out.
The education at the University is practically oriented. The University pays special attention to research implemented by students. The Research Society of Young Scholars and Students and the Young Scholars School have been established so that students and postgraduates could present their scientific works.
The academic year in MSUPE lasts from September till June (1.09 – 30.06). Duration of training: specialist – 5 (5.5) years of training; PhD (postgraduate) – 3 years. All faculties provide full-time, part-time (evening), and external forms of training. Postgraduate studentship also provides full-time and external forms of training. Education in MSUPE is conducted in Russian. Enrollment in MSUPE is carried out according to the result of the entrance examinations.
Visa invitation
The University provides visa support through the Federal Migration Service of Russia, carries out production in the immigration records, implements dormitory and socio-cultural support for international students studying on the full-time form. The University enrolled 118 international students.
To obtain a visa invitation for a school you must submit for review the following documents (by mail, fax or e-mail) to the Department of International Relations:
- Completed application form for visa invitation
- A copy of the first two pages of your passport
After a review of your documents the Department of International Relations will send you an invitation to come to Russia for studying. Please, consult about the procedure for obtaining visa in the Russian embassy in your country. A visa invitation takes about 2.5 months, so you need to send these documents no later than 3 months before the entrance examinations.
Conclusion a contract for training
In order to conclude a contract for training in MSUPE it is necessary to submit the following documents to the Department of International Relations:
- Application form for admission to study according to the fixed pattern,
- Documents on Education, equivalent to the ones in the Russian Federation, necessary for enrollment to the appropriate degree of higher professional education, with an indication of qualification (degree), studied subjects and received evaluation marks:
- Specialist, Bachelor:General Certificate of Education,
- Master:Specialist or Bachelor Degree,
- Postgraduate (PhD): Specialist or Master Degree.
- A notarized translation into Russian of the documents on education and evaluation marks for the studied subjects;
- The equivalence certificate of the documents on education obtained abroad according to the fixed pattern;
- Standard medical certificate indicating the absence of medical contraindications for study in Russia and at the appropriate faculty;
- Certificate active in the territory of the Russian Federation indicating the absence of HIV infection;
- Passport with visa and migration card;
- Six photographs – size 3x4 cm.
Translation into Russian of the educational documents should be certified by the consulate or embassy of the Russian Federation in the country of the documents issuance, or by a notary in the Russian Federation. Foreign documents on education and academic qualifications should be got through the procedure of recognition and equivalency in the prescribed manner.
The University has a right to request additional information.
Documents of international citizens to enter the MSUPE are accepted:
To the Specialist, Bachelor, Master Programme – till July, 15th;
To Postgraduate studentship and Doctorate – during the year.
Your expences will consist of the following:
1. Payment for processing the visa for education – 400 rubbles.
2. Health Insurance – from 6 000 rubbles (depending on service package).

Tuition fees will range from 3500 to 5000 c.u. per year, depending on the chosen faculty and programme (Specialist, Bachelor or Postgraduate).
